The RasmussenTM Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday—August 23—shows that 27% of the nation’s voters strongly approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) strongly disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14. These figures mark the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President. The previous low of -12 was reached on July 30. The approval rating has never dipped below 29%, according to this poll, before with only 49% of Democrats giving the President a positive rating. The trend shows that Obama’s rating has been in a constant downward spiral since January 21, 2009 when 44% of those polled strongly approved of the Obama’s performance while 16% strongly disapproved.
KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO reported on Friday, “The honeymoon may be over between President Obama and the American people. A new survey says many are losing faith in the President and are concerned about health care reform and the federal budget deficit. In April, 60-percent of Americans said they believed the President would make the right decisions for the country—now it’s 49-percent.
“His overall approval rating has dropped too. It is now 57-percent, down 12 points from 4 months ago.”
Apparently, the Health Care Town Hall meetings their president has been conducting has had the desired effect. For the Republicans. While the media talking heads have been instilling panic over Americans rightfully carrying firearms to the meetings, they have been detracting from the fact that a Washington Post-ABC News poll of July 18 shows that support of the People—for the Health Care plan—has dipped below 49%. Those at the “assaulted” meetings were apparently not too terrified to listen to what was said.
Says Obama, “…my commitment to the American people is to get a good product which will include Republican ideas, but I have no control over what the other side decides is their political strategy. And my obligation to the American people says: We’re going to get this done one way or another.”
His obligation to the American people apparently goes against what the American people want and his comment shows his frustration at the resistance of Communising America.
Thanks, though, to David Paul Kuhn, though, who posted an article on the Time blog, partnered with the Communist News Network, for revealing how we misread these polls. As far as I know, he took no such effort to dissuade newspapers from representing Bush’s low poll numbers.
