Rasmussen Reports and Gallup Polls, who have tracked the President’s approval rating since January 21, 2009, show his approval rating steadily declining.
Gallup shows a drop from 69% approving of his performance in February, to 53% today. He rose from 12% disapproving of his job to 40% over the same period.
Rasmussen Reports, his most favorable poll, shows that Obama dropped from a high rating of 23 in January to an average of -9 this month. Today, the poll shows that 29% of those polled strongly approve of the President’s performance, holding steady from yesterday, while 40% strongly disapprove.
Zogby International writes, “President Barack Obama’s job approval rating is down to 42%, with a decline in approval from Democrats the leading factor.
“The latest Zogby Interactive poll of 4,518 likely voters conducted from August 28-31 found 48% disapprove and 42% approve of the job Obama is doing. The poll found 75% of Democrats approve of Obama’s performance, a drop of 13 points among Democrats from an interactive poll done July 21-24 of this year. That same poll found 48% of all likely voters approving of Obama’s job performance, and 49% disapproving.”
Obama supporters will probably use the same tact as Republicans on poll numbers such as these. Perhaps pollsters threw out favorable poll number to gain a more dramatic result. However, all three major poll takers show a decline in Obama’s approval rating. At least one of them, surely, would like to show an increase to get a favorable rating with the White House.
The Health Care issue—driven by Obama who says he and the Democrats will have this health care plan whether the American people like it or not—is probably the lead cause of the approval drop when polling the two major parties. Since Rasmussen apparently polls Independent thinkers, as well, other factors, no doubt, add into the decline. The fact that he is working with Jay Rockefeller to censor the Internet, probably doesn’t help. Rasmussen indicates that the bail-out boondogle is among the list of unfavorable legislation the Congress, under Obama, have approved.
And, while not saying much, Rasmussen Reports that 60% believe that Obama is at least as ethical as any other politician.
