A Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman, Ed Troyer, said Clemmons was fatally shot in a Seattle neighbourhood.
Mr Troyer told CNN officers from the Seattle police department “came in contact with the suspect” early on Tuesday, “When they came in contact with the suspect, shots were fired and the suspect was shot and killed,” he said.
“The Seattle Police Department is the agency that shot and killed him after the incident occurred.”
The law enforcement authorities suspected Clemmons of gunning down the four police officers at the coffee shop in Parkland, a suburb south of Seattle, Washington, on Sunday morning.
In an apparently random attack, it is believed that Clemmons, 37, walked into the coffee shop and opened fire on the officers as they sat catching up on paperwork before the start of their shift.
Arraignment for alleged Seattle police killer delayed
SEATTLE – Arraignment for the man charged with murdering a Seattle police officer last month has been delayed because he is still hospitalized.
Christopher Monfort is recovering after being shot during his arrest in Tukwila, Wash. on Nov. 6, seven days after he allegedly shot and killed Ofc. Timothy Brenton.
Monfort has been at Harborview Medical Center ever since. His family says he is paralyzed from the waist down.
Monfort was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday on charges of aggravated first-degree murder, three counts of attempted first-degree murder and arson. His attorneys reportedly told the judge he may be able to leave the hospital by next week.
